Kyiv
Starting October 9, shelters in Kyiv's kindergartens will be inaccessible to outsiders during the day. Shelters in such institutions can only be used by participants in the educational process, i.e. staff and children. At night, however, all citizens can use such shelters.
Kyiv Oblast
Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the Kyiv Oblast Military Administration, together with Eric Berning, CEO of AWT Bavaria, met with the military to hand over the vehicles. These vehicles are for the mobile firing groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which protect us from air attacks by the russian occupiers. The money for their purchase was raised as part of the Ukrainian Defense Project together with UNITED24.
Zhytomyr Oblast
For more than a year, nine-year-old Berdychiv resident Dominika Soldatiuk has been painting and selling her paintings. The girl donates the money to the needs of the military. In one year, Dominika has raised over 65 thousand hryvnias. Her mom and dad help her create her paintings.
Chernihiv Oblast
On October 8, russian troops shelled the Horodnia and Semenivka communities in the Chernihiv Oblast.
On the outskirts of Chernihiv, a man was collecting scrap metal and stepped on an unknown object that exploded. As a result of the explosion, the victim sustained a mine-blast injury and was hospitalized.
Sumy Oblast
On October 8, the russian army shelled 3 communities in the Sumy Oblast. 34 explosions were recorded.
In the morning of October 9, russians fired mortars at the Khotyn community of the Sumy Oblast.
Eastern oblasts
Kharkiv Oblast
Over the past day, the russian occupiers fired artillery, mortars and other weapons at civilian infrastructure and the civilian population of the Chuhuiv and Kupiansk raions of the oblast.
As a result of the enemy artillery shelling of the town of Vovchansk, Chuhuiv Raion, which occurred after 6 p.m., two private houses were seriously damaged. A 65-year-old civilian woman was killed.
Besides, at least 5 private residential buildings were damaged in Vovchansk over the last day as a result of occupiers' attacks.
Hostile attacks were registered in the village of Zemlianky. There were no casualties or serious damage.
In total, more than 15 settlements were under enemy fire, in particular, Kamianka, Dvorichna, Kyslivka, Kozacha Lopan, and Okhrymivka.
Donetsk Oblast
On October 8, russian troops shelled four settlements in the Donetsk Oblast seven times. They fired using aircraft, Iskander tactical ballistic missile systems, artillery and tanks. The shelling damaged 33 civilian facilities.
On October 8, four residents of the Donetsk Oblast were wounded by russian weapons, namely in Kostiantynivka.
Since February 24, 2022, the Russians have killed 1,731 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast, and wounded another 4,215 people. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.
Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion
The day before, in the morning, russians launched a missile attack on Kostiantynivka, wounding 4 people and damaging 19 private houses, 10 high-rise buildings, a boiler house, a gas pipeline, and a power line.
In the Lysychansk sector, Torske and Zarichne of the Lyman community, as well as Siversk, were shelled with artillery, causing no casualties or damage.
In Kramatorsk, 359 applications for compensation for damaged or destroyed housing were approved under the eRecovery program. The total amount of payments is 31 million 796,112 hryvnias.
IDPs from Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts and those who stayed in those oblasts can receive financial assistance from the UN Refugee Agency. In Sloviansk, registration for receiving this assistance will last until October 13. It will be conducted by The Right to Protection charitable foundation.
Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion
On the Donetsk side, the russians damaged an agricultural enterprise in Lastochkine of the Ocheretyne community.
Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion
A house was damaged in the Horlivka direction in the Chasiv Yar community.
Volnovakha and Volnovakha Raion
In the Volnovakha direction, Vuhledar came under fire twice. There are no casualties.
Mariupol
The occupiers destroyed the inscriptions of Mariupol children on the walls of the Azov State Technical University. They wrote them while hiding during the siege of the city.
Luhansk Oblast
The enemy continues its attacks on Makiivka. On October 8, Ukrainian defenders repelled four assaults on the territory near the village.
The occupiers opened fire on Bilohorivka and Nevske with artillery and mortars. After almost every such shelling, several people are left without households. Two more houses were destroyed in Nevske. The russians are destroying this settlement, as well as others near the front.
The local population is not promised reconstruction at all, only at their own expense. In one of the houses, people decided to repair the roof themselves. There was enough money for half of the work. Having turned to the occupation administration with a request to complete or compensate the expenses, they were refused.
Southern oblasts
Mykolaiv Oblast
Yesterday, October 8, the enemy fired artillery at the open territory of the Kutsurub community. There are no casualties.
In Mykolaiv, the Bashtanska, Pervomaisk and Voznesenska raions, the day and night passed relatively calmly.
Heat supply enterprises of Mykolaiv are completing preparations for the heating season of 2023-2024. In case of blackouts, the city will operate mobile boiler rooms that run on alternative fuel, as well as generators.
Zaporizhzhia Oblast
Yesterday, russian military personnel carried out 77 strikes on 16 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. 74 areas of front-line towns and villages were hit by artillery shelling.

Odesa Oblast
An agent of the russian federation was exposed in Odessa. The man joined the local detachment of volunteer rescuers, arrived at the sites of strikes ostensibly to clear debris, but in fact recorded the consequences for the intelligence of the russian federation. These data were used to prepare new and adjust repeated strikes on Odesa. In addition, the russian agent tried to identify combat positions of air defense. The perpetrator faces life imprisonment.
The mayor of Odesa is on a working visit to the German sister city of Regensburg, which is one of the most active donors of humanitarian aid for Odesa. The parties discussed the transfer of 10 passenger low-floor buses to Odesa, which will enter city routes in the near future.
Kherson Oblast
During the past day, the army of the russian federation shelled the Kherson Oblast 53 times. 288 shells were fired in the oblast, 96 — in the regional center. One person died, 18 were injured, including two children.
This morning, the russian army shelled the coastal area of Kherson from the temporarily occupied left bank. A man received minor injuries.
In the afternoon, the russian military once again struck the village of Kindiika in the suburbs of Kherson. A 63-year-old woman was injured, she was hospitalized in a moderate condition.
Nine children who were in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson Oblast were returned to Ukraine. In particular, five girls and four boys aged 5 to 14.
Three so-called "heads" of the Kherson Oblast communities will be tried for collaborationism. The two suspects headed the Tavrychanka and Malokakhovka Territorial Administrations of the Kakhovka occupation administration. Another one became the "head" of Kardashynka village. They face up to 10 years in prison.

Poltava Oblast
In the Poltava Oblast, there are round-the-clock "Points of Invincibility" from rescuers. You can charge your gadgets, drink tea and warm up at the heating points provided by the Emergency Department. 36 of them are located in the buildings of units of the Poltava Garrison of the State Emergency Service, another 9 are mobile tents. In total, 482 "Points of Invincibility" operate in the Oblast.
In Poltava, they want to rename Deputatsky Lane. This name was given to it in Soviet times. Although the lane is not subject to the Law "On Decolonization", it was included to the list of the fourth stage.
Vinnytsia Oblast
The award of the border guard from Vinnytsia Ivan Krokhmal, the Order "For Courage" of the III degree (posthumously), was handed over to the parents of the fallen defender.

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

Strong gusts of wind, falling trees and branches on the power grid led to disruptions in the operation of power grids. The lack of electricity for consumers was recorded in almost all distribution networks of the Khmelnytskyi Oblast. As of 4:00 p.m., 14 settlements have been cut off.
Kamianets-Podilskyi
In September of this year, UAH 2.2 million of aid for the military were allocated from the local budget.
Thanks to the donations of the residents of the community and the city council, a thermal imager was purchased for the military. The fundraising was organized by the daughter of the fallen soldier, Anastasia Savchuk, calling it "Revenge for her father." Anastasia Savchuk, from Kamianchanka, set a goal of collecting UAH 500,000 for the Territorial Defense battalion in which her father fought.
About 500 internally displaced people received large humanitarian shipments with hygiene products and everything necessary for cleaning common areas. Such humanitarian aid will be transferred in the next few days to the compact housing of internally displaced persons, where more than 1,500 people live, 70% of whom are elderly.
Chernivtsi Oblast
The Security Service of Ukraine reported the suspicion to four residents of the Chernivtsi Oblast, who publicly denied the armed aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine.
In Bukovyna, during 9 months of 2023, libraries removed 285,421 book copies, of which 215,516 were in russian. Instead, it was possible to update the library funds with quality Ukrainian-language literature and books from Ukrainian publishing houses in the amount of 6,864 copies.
A volunteer from Chernivtsi, Halyna Chaplak, sews toys-talismans from worn-out uniforms for the military, who are in the hottest areas of the war. The craftswoman has already created more than a hundred products.

Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast
Military serviceman from the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Vasyl Yablonskyi, received the "Golden Cross" badge from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi.
In Kalush, the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, two commemorative plaques were opened on the wall of Lyceum No. 10 to soldiers Roman Stekhnovych and Kostiantyn Lytvynchuk. Both soldiers studied at this institution.
Ternopil Oblast
