Kyiv

Starting today, May 22, ground public transport in the capital will take passengers to the nearest shelter in the event of an air raid alert.

From now on, Kyiv has a street named after Hryhoriy Kochur, a famous Ukrainian translator, poet, literary critic, public figure, and a member of the Sixtiers dissident movement. Hryhoriy Kochur Street appeared in the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv. Previously, it bore the name of the Soviet Union hero Oleksandr Pyrohovskyi. The decision to rename the street was made by the Kyiv City Council on May 18 this year.

A new mural has appeared in Kyiv in memory of Azov soldier Oleksandr Hryanyk. The initiator of the creation of the mural was a girl named Nicole, a refugee from Mariupol. Her initiative was picked up by the guys from the Dynamo football movement, of which Hryanyk was a part. The mural is located in Obolon, near a 16-story building at 60 Volodymyr Ivasiuk Avenue.

A new mural was created on one of the buildings in the center of Irpin, which is dedicated to the city's defenders. The mural is called "The whole world will remember the heroes of Irpin." Its creation was initiated by Roman Yavorskyi, the owner of the SOVA coffee shop located nearby. This was announced by Volodymyr Karpliuk, head of the Irpin Investment Council, CEO of the "Vidvazhni" (Brave) Company.

Bohuslav

The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphaniy visited the St. Nicholas Monastery in Bohuslav. The event was initiated by the Active Community team as part of the project "Rebuilding Ourselves - Rebuilding Ukraine" with the financial support of the European Union in Ukraine.

Zhytomyr Oblast

Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi visited Zhytomyr. As part of the meeting, he talked to students. During the discussion, the students talked about the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning, creating spaces for development in the educational institutions, about students and teachers and their role in the educational process.

The Zhytomyr Community Foundation received three tons of humanitarian aid for IDPs from volunteers from the Netherlands. This is already the eighth cargo vehicle with relief supplies collected abroad for the residents of the Zhytomyr Oblast.

Chernihiv Oblast

On May 22, russian troops shelled the border areas of the Chernihiv Oblast, namely, the Semenivka community. There were no reports of casualties among the local population or damage to civilian infrastructure.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

Yesterday, the occupiers fired artillery, mortars and rocket launchers at settlements in the Kharkiv, Kupiansk, and Chuhuiv raions of the oblast.

As a result of a missile attack on the village of Tsyrkuny in the Kharkiv Raion, a residential building was destroyed. A civilian man was wounded.

In Vovchansk, Chuhuiv Raion, 6 houses and outbuildings were damaged by enemy shelling.

In Chuhuiv, the buildings of 2 recreation centers, as well as catamarans and boats were damaged.

In the urban-type settlement of Kozacha Lopan, Kharkiv Raion, artillery shelling damaged two houses and a bus, killing and injuring domestic animals.

In the village of Kamianka, Izium Raion, a 61-year-old man hit an unknown munition in his own yard. He was hospitalized with an injury.

Donetsk Oblast

In total, russia shelled 13 towns and villages in the Donetsk Oblast over the last day. 24 hits were recorded, 47 buildings and structures were damaged.

On May 21, the russians killed 2 residents of the Donetsk Oblast - in Avdiivka and Chasiv Yar. Another 6 people were wounded in the oblast.

In total, since February 24, 2022, the russians have killed 1,528 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast and wounded another 3,568 people. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.

Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunners shot down a russian helicopter that was trying to shell the village of New York in the Toretsk community.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion

One house was damaged in the village of Chervone of the Kostyantynivka community as a result of the russian missile attack.

In the Lysychansk sector, in the Liman community, one house in Torske and two houses in Yampil were damaged.

A fire broke out in Kramatorsk in the Stare Misto (Old Town) this afternoon. The bridge over the Kazenyi Torets river from Novy Svit to Stare Misto was blocked by patrol police crews so that rescuers could put out the fire. Currently, the fire has been contained. The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

One person died and four were injured in Avdiivka. The city was shelled nine times, including with cluster munitions. the houses and the territory of the Avdiivka Coke Plant were damaged. One person was injured in Heorhiivka of the Marinka community. The Kurakhove community came under fire fore times.

Residents of Pokrovsk, who were forced to move to Kropyvnytskyi due to the russian invasion, joined the environmental initiative. They planted 50 rose bushes.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

Mariupol

The russians continue to destroy not only the houses of the people in Mariupol, but also educational institutions, where thousands of children used to receive education. According to preliminary data, 54 educational institutions of secondary education were damaged by the occupiers. Eight are completely destroyed.

Residents of the city burned the russian flag on the beach. With this action, they showed that the people of Mariupol do not want to live under the rule of the occupiers. They want to return to Ukraine.

Luhansk Oblast

In Sievierodonetsk, the occupiers made people's lives difficult to a critical level. Mykolaiv Oblast

Also, this morning, the enemy carried out artillery shelling of the water area of ​​the Ochakivs community. There were no injuries or damage.

In Mykolaiv, the Pervomaisk, Voznesensk and Bashtanska raions, the day and night passed relatively calmly.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

During the past day, May 21, the russian military shelled 16 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Aviation, artillery, anti-aircraft missiles and drones were used. Private houses and commercial buildings were destroyed, cars were damaged.

The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant went into blackout mode for the eighth time due to shelling by the russians. At 17:00, external power from the Ukrainian power system was restored.

Odessa Oblast

Over the sea, air defense forces shot down a drone that the russian army directed towards Odesa.

In Odesa, the wife of the dead shooter Oleksandr Zielkov was awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree. The soldier died in July 2022 as a result of a severe wound received in the combat zone.

Kherson Oblast

During the day, russian troops shelled five communities of the Berislav Raion. Warehouses, a base station for mobile communication, residential buildings and farm buildings were damaged. There is no electricity supply in Beryslav and surrounding settlements. There are no injured or dead.

A 45-year-old man died as a result of russian shelling in Stanislav in the Kherson Raion. He was repairing the roof of the house during the shelling. The russian military also dropped two aerial bombs on Kizomys at night. Destroyed houses. There are no casualties or injuries.

On May 21, air defense forces shot down a russian Su-35 fighter over the Kherson Oblast.

Pyrotechnicians of the State Emergency Service defused 83 explosive objects in the de-occupied settlements of the Kherson Oblast during the day. Almost five hectares of territory and more than a kilometer of power lines were examined.

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

Before that, the russians fired artillery and drones at the Myrove community in the Nikopol Raion. As a result, a private residential building and a car were destroyed. Another 6 private homes, an outbuilding and a car were damaged. The post office, dispensary, agricultural enterprise, administrative building were also affected. In Nikopol, as a result of shelling, 2 five-story buildings, 15 private residential buildings, 7 farm buildings, fences and solar panels were damaged. The walls of the buildings were pierced by shells, the roofs were mutilated, the windows were blown out. One woman was injured.

In Dnipro, an action was held in support of "Azovstal" prisoners of war, who have been in captivity for a year. Relatives of the defenders and concerned citizens gathered at the Festival pier. The main purpose of the meeting was to remind everyone about the prisoners who have not yet returned home. A similar event took place in Kryvyi Rih.

In Dnipro, ex-activists of the AUI "Active Community" Dmytro Tverdokhlib, Vadym Baidak and others opened the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Youth Center on the basis of the Public Organization "Duit". Kirovohrad Oblast

In addition to the basic program, which provides assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the maintenance of critical infrastructure facilities, the oblast participated in providing the necessary assistance to local units of the Territorial Defense Forces.

In the village of Dmytrivka, the Kropyvnytskyi Raion, 8-year-old schoolgirl Maria Riaboshapka became the youngest volunteer in the community. She decided to help fellow countryman, defender Vadym Fedorov, who was seriously injured. On the eve of his thirtieth birthday, Maria transferred her savings to the soldier - UAH 5,230.

Poltava Oblast

Residents of Poltava handed over 6.5 tons of products to the military on the front lines. 2.7 tons of food kits were sent from the regional humanitarian headquarters.

95 streets in the Poltava community received new names. Now there are no street names in Poltava in honor of russian soldiers and politicians. Instead, streets named after the Heroes of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, the State Flag and the Heroes of Ukraine appeared in the city.

Rivne Oblast

The Security Service of Ukraine exposed a pro-russian agitator who lived in Rivne for a long time. It was established that the suspect in the banned social network repeatedly distributed posts glorifying russia's armed aggression against Ukraine and recognized the military invasion of the territory of Ukraine as legitimate. During the search of the woman's place of residence, law enforcement officers seized a mobile phone and a computer with evidence of illegal activity.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Rivne stand-up club "StandUp West" has been holding charity concerts in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the period of their performances, the comedians collected more than UAH 700,000, with which they bought walkie-talkies and radio antennas for the military. They helped purchase cars for the Rivne air defense and the 65th separate mechanized brigade. They also bought bulletproof vests, transferred money to military medics and for car repairs.

37 security classes are already actively operating in the Rivne Oblast. The premises are equipped not only with visual materials, but also with real combat clothing of rescuers and their equipment, samples of explosive objects, interactive curiosities, and products from the UNICEF Ukraine company, so that lessons in safety classes are even more interesting. The purpose of such "Safety Classes" is to teach local children the basics of life safety and civil protection.

Students of the "Prestige" Lyceum in Rivne together with volunteer Maria Tarasiuk prepared more than 150 dry soups for the military. They weighed the dried ingredients and poured them into bags, which were then vacuum-sealed. Ready dry rations are planned to be handed over to defenders in the east of Ukraine.

Chernivtsi Oblast

Servicemen of the 94th battalion of the 107th separate brigade of the Bukovyna Territorial Defense Forces, who are currently performing combat missions in the Donetsk direction, received the award from the head of the regional administration of the Territorial Defense Forces "West" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

A resident of Chernivtsi Oblast was awarded the "Badge of Honor" from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Valerii Bersan from the village of Poliany, the Klishkivtsi community, received a high award.
