Northern oblasts

Kyiv

In Kyiv and at least 11 other cities of Ukraine, the action "Do not be silent! Captivity Kills". This event, in the format of a “live corridor” with posters in hand, is a continuation of the action of the families of prisoners of war that took place in Kyiv on December 3.

The dismantling of the monument to Mykola Shchors has been completed in the capital. It took 6 hours to dismantle the 7-ton structure. The monument will be stored at the Oleh Antonov State Aviation Museum of Ukraine. To date, more than 60 monuments related to the history and culture of russia and the ussr have been removed in the capital.


Kyiv Oblast

In the Kyiv Oblast, more than 15.3 thousand structures and facilities that were damaged as a result of russian military aggression have been fully or partially restored. Almost 14 thousand of them are apartment buildings and private houses.


Zhytomyr Oblast

The commander of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Maksym Myrhorodskyi, presented state awards, honorary certificates, and valuable gifts to soldiers of the Zhytomyr 95th Detached Airborne Assault Brigade.


Sumy Oblast

During the day, the russian army carried out 6 shelling attacks on the border areas and settlements in the Sumy Oblast. 19 explosions were recorded. Four communities were shelled.

At night, the russian military shelled the Krasnopillia community. Two explosions of mortar shells were recorded.


Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

Over the course of the day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 11 attacks of the russian federation in the areas of Synkivka, northeast of Petropavlivka and Ivanivka in the Kharkiv Oblast, and, on December 8, 4 communities were hit by airstrikes.

At least 17 settlements were shelled by russian artillery and mortars.

During the day, one fire was extinguished in the region, which occurred as a result of shelling.

The occupiers hit the village of Tsaredarivtsi, about 10 km off Lozova, with a guided aerial bomb. A store was on fire, and a private house was damaged. No one was injured.

In Monachynivka, Kupiansk Raion, a residential building and a critical infrastructure facility were damaged by shelling. 37 subscribers were disconnected from gas supply.

The russian army shelled Podoly in the Kupiansk Raion with Uragan MLRS. A 51-year-old woman was wounded and then hospitalized.

Power engineers restored electricity supply to 165 consumers whose homes were de-energized as a result of russian missile strikes on December 8.

In de-occupied Balaklia, three protective structures are being installed, where local residents will be able to hide from shelling. Each structure is designed to accommodate 40 people.


Donetsk Oblast

During December 8, the occupiers stormed the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the east of Ukraine more than 80 times, 35 of those attacks took place in the area of Avdiivka.

The occupiers from the russian federation bombard the frontline roads and cities with rocket artillery in order to complicate the logistics of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Avdiivka and Maryinka sectors remain the most active.

On December 8, it became known about one more person who died as a result of an attack on Novohrodivka on November 29.

Since February 24, 2022, the russians have killed 1,788 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast, and wounded another 4,374. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.


Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion

A house and an infrastructure facility in Siversk were damaged in the Lysychansk sector. 22 shelling attacks on the Lyman community were recorded.

Shelters in educational institutions are being repaired in the Kostiantynivka community in the Donetsk Oblast. The work in one of the shelters in a kindergarten has already been completed. Currently, the community practices distance learning, but the premises are prepared precisely so that children can stay in them.


Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

In the Donetsk sector, Krasnohorivka, Novomykhailivka, and Kostiantynivka of the Maryinka community were shelled. The enemy fired 5 times at the industrial zone of the Kurakhove community.

Twelve people who were hiding in the shelter of the Avdiivka Coke Plant managed to be evacuated from the city. They had come to the plant's shelter since the beginning of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in search for a safe place to hide.

In Avdiivka, people have not been buried since last summer, when the occupiers started bombarding all cemeteries. Whenever possible, the bodies are taken to the Ocheretyne community. Sometimes people bury their neighbors on their own in the private sector.


Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

In the Horlivka sector, 7 private houses, 4 multi-story buildings and a kindergarten were damaged in Toretsk. In the Chasiv Yar community, 3 multi-story buildings and 2 private houses were damaged.

Near Bakhmut, russians are trying to regain the dominant heights. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding the line in difficult weather conditions, when one day it rains, and the next day the water in the trenches and on wet clothes freezes.


Luhansk Oblast

Starting from the new year, the occupiers from the Russian Federation will stop providing medical services to people without a russian passport and will prohibit them from driving their own cars. Restrictions in hospitals and pharmacies have already started to be introduced in the Starobilsk Raion of the Luhansk Oblast.


Southern regions

Mykolaiv Oblast

In the Mykolaiv Oblast, on December 8 and in the morning of December 9, russian troops shelled the city of Mykolaiv and the Mykolaiv Raion. A missile was fired at the city. It hit open areas on the outskirts of the city. There were no casualties.


Zaporizhzhia Oblast

17 settlements came under hostile fire - 64 strikes were recorded in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. 9 reports were received about the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure facilities.

A 56-year-old resident of Stepnohirsk died as a result of shelling by the russian army yesterday, on December 8. She appeared near the place where the projectile hit. The administrative building and other infrastructure facilities of the settlement were also destroyed.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Defense Forces repelled all attacks of the russian army west of Verbove.

In Zaporizhzhia, the restoration of three more high-rise buildings that were damaged by russian shelling began.


Odessa Oblast

The Patriot surface-to-air missile system is already operating in Odesa. The formation of additional mobile groups to fight against the Shaheds is also underway. That is done in order to protect the seaport from attacks by russia.

At an extraordinary meeting of the executive committee of the Odesa City Council, the issue of compensation to citizens who lost their homes as a result of the armed aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine was considered.

A relevant commission has been created. Citizens have the right to receive 100% compensation for their housing in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine.

Odessa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov held another online meeting with representatives of the University of Genoa regarding the restoration of the Transfiguration Cathedral. The Government of the Italian Republic has confirmed that the first economic tranche will be approved in December for the renovation of the cathedral. The issue of reconstruction and restoration of other cultural heritage sites in the UNESCO zone was also raised during the meeting.


Kherson Oblast

As a result of shelling by the russian troops of the last day on the settlements of the Kherson community, damage was recorded in Kherson, Prydniprovske, Sadove and Antonivka. The russian army struck the territory of the community 21 times, using 81 shells.

The army of the russian federation struck residential areas, hit a building of a critical infrastructure facility in Kherson. There are wounded.

In Kherson, after the evening shelling on December 8, 1,323 subscribers remain without electricity. As of this morning, 396 accounting points were connected.

Explosions are heard in the temporarily occupied Skadovsk.

The russian military dropped explosives on Beryslav from a drone. One person died, another was injured.

During the day, russian troops shelled a three-story building in the Korabelny district of Kherson. Glass flew out of the windows, the walls of the building were damaged. There are no dead or injured.


Central oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

On the night of December 9, the russian army struck Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with heavy artillery. There are no casualties or injuries.

The Dnipropetrovsk Oblast has suffered more than 2,500 shelling by the russian army since the beginning of the full-scale war. 260 civilians died, including 20 children. More than 6,000 objects were damaged.

In Kamianske and Novomoskovsk, they decided not to install central Christmas trees this year. Also, in Kamianske, festive illuminations and Christmas and New Year locations will be abandoned. In Novomoskovsk, on the other hand, one of the live Christmas trees was decorated in the central square. Toys were made by children.


Kirovohrad Oblast

Leonid Mamets, a resident of Pyuitivka in the Kirovohrad Oblast, received the "Golden Cross" award from the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valeriy Zaluzhny.


Cherkasy Oblast

During three days, pyrotechnicians from Cherkasy, Chernihiv and Zhytomyr improved their professional skills in decontamination of various explosive objects, both in theory and in practice. They practiced new methods of work in conditions close to real ones.


Poltava Oblast

On December 9, a picket was planned on Theater Square in Poltava against the installation of a New Year's tree. The initiators of the protest offer to donate funds to the needs of the Poltava 116th Territorial Defense Brigade instead: "It cannot be a holiday when our soldiers freeze and die, and children collect pennies and buy drones and cars so that their parents return home alive."

As part of the all-Ukrainian initiative "Side by Side", the villages of Pravdyne and Chkalove in the Kherson Oblast are being restored by residents of the Poltava Oblast. So far, 91 houses have been repaired there. More than 200 people live in renovated houses. Construction workers continue to work in Pravdyne. Roofs are repaired, windows and doors are replaced.

The Sklifosovsky regional hospital received two generators, medicines, hygiene products, tools and consumables. Also food products. A total of nine pallets of rubber cargo is a total value of UAH 700,000. All this was handed over by the AICM Ukraine International Charitable Foundation. This is already the fifth batch of such assistance from the organization for the institution.


Vinnytsia Oblast

Another sister city appeared in Vinnytsia: on December 9, Mayor Serhii Morgunov signed an agreement with the mayor of Nancy in France.

More than two hundred masking nets were sent to defenders of female volunteers from Tomashpil in the Vinnytsia Oblast during the year. Each of the women has relatives currently fighting at the front.


Western oblasts

Volyn Oblast

The "Victorious Spirit of Christmas" charity marathon is underway in the Lutsk community, during which aid will be collected for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The plan of events is calculated for December and January. Last year, during the Christmas marathon, we managed to collect almost 150,000 hryvnias.


Khmelnytskyi Oblast

Two memorial plaques to the soldiers who died during the russian-Ukrainian war were opened in the village of Otrokiv, located in the Nova Ushytsia community, the Khmelnytskyi Oblast. They were installed on the facade of the local school where the defenders studied.

In Khmelnytskyi, 26,000 food kits will be distributed to needy community residents by the end of the year.


Kamianets-Podilskyi

50 tactical headphones and a DJI Mavic Enterprise drone in the amount of UAH 214,400 were today handed over by the city authorities to one of the combat units where Kamianets residents serve.

On December 10, the People's Children and Youth Choir Chapel "Zhuravlyk", like the Ukrainian Republican Chapel led by Oleksandr Koshyts 105 years ago, will go on a big European tour with the Kamianets carol "Schedryk", known in many countries as "Carol of the Bells". 8 charity concerts and a fair of local craft masters "Made in Kamianets" and paintings by children of the Kamianets-Podilskyi Children's Art School are planned.


Chernivtsi Oblast

Military soldier Maksym Kolisnyk was posthumously awarded the Order "For Courage" of the 3rd degree.

Forum 1325 "Women. Peace. Security" was held in Chernivtsi as part of the "We create local solutions together" project. In particular, during the event, a number of sessions were held on the topics "Women and War", "Women Volunteers", "Children and War". The participants discussed aspects of protecting children's rights, the role of women in volunteering, and the difficulties they face in conditions of war.

More than UAH 170,000 for the purchase of a drone were collected at the charity event "We will defeat the enemy - We will win!" in the village of Hlyboka.

Residents of the Romanian-speaking village of Dynivtsi have been volunteering since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. During this time, they made almost 60 trips to front-line Kostiantynivka, Lyman and Bakhmut. Every month, homemade food, warm clothes and cars are handed over - UAH 0,5 million worth of items are collected in one flight.


Ternopil Oblast

In the Ternopil Oblast, in Terebovlia, the clock installed at the town hall was restored. Now the chimes are struck here every hour, and at 12:00 the melody of the National Anthem sounds. The clock stopped before a full-scale invasion began.

Traditionally, a costume race was held on the embankment of the Ternopil Pond for St. Nicholas Day. Anyone who donated money or a gift for the fighters could join.


Zakarpattia Oblast

The weaving of nets for the military continued in the Chop City Council. Today, eleventh-graders of Chop school No. 1 joined the work. In general, with the help of students and their teachers, it was possible to weave one 10-meter net almost completely in just two hours, which usually takes a craftswoman all day.

The fighters of the 128th brigade became Saint Nicholas for children in the front-line zone. The military visited children whose parents died in the russian-Ukrainian war, as well as low-income families in villages near the line of fire. Each child received gifts - soft toys, sweets, fruits, clothes.

Defender from the Zakarpattia Oblast Andrii Tkachuk became the bronze medalist of the 24-hour World Running Championship. A military man with the callname "Brodiaha" ran more than 284 km in one day and took third place at the competition in the Taiwanese city of Taipei.
