Kyiv

Another victim of the enemy missile shelling of the capital on December 29, 2022, died today. The 40-year-old woman was in serious condition in the hospital.

The photo exhibition "Kyiv - the unbreakable heart of Europe", which has traveled the world, will be displayed at the capital's railway station. The exhibition includes 30 photos by Ukrainian photographers depicting the life of the residents of Kyiv and suburban towns in the conditions of russian aggression. The opening of the exhibition will take place next week, and will be set up on the platform near the concourse that connects the Central and South Railway Stations.

The collection of Russian books continues until May in the municipal bookstore "Syaivo knyhy", the proceeds of which will be used to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Books can be brought in person to the bookstore or mailed. Terms of the campaign: 10% discount on the purchase of new books in this bookstore is given for the brought books.


Kyiv Oblast

Today, in the Bucha Raion, units of the State Emergency Service were eliminating explosive ordnance. This accounts for the sound of explosions that could be heard in some of the communities of the oblast.


Zhytomyr Oblast

Volunteers from Germany visited the Zhytomyr Oblast and presented gifts. The charitable foundation "Zhytomyr unites us" together with volunteers from Germany handed over the gifts to children, the elderly, hospitals, and military personnel.

Artists of the Zhytomyr Philharmonic Yanina and Oleksandr Yaremchuk together with the Swiss Association "Solidarity without Borders" collected three tons of relief supplies, which were delivered to Baranivka.

In the Zhytomyr Oblast, internally displaced persons in need of psychological assistance can seek support from psychologists of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) in the Zhytomyr Oblast. SES specialists provide such assistance to adults and children.


Chernihiv Oblast

Late last night, russians shelled the Semenivka community with mortars. The occupiers fired six 120 mm caliber mortar shells.

In the St. Catherine Cathedral in Chernihiv, they said goodbye to two soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ihor Klanovets and Yaroslav Kondratenko.

Nizhyn received two high-tech generators with a capacity of 270 and 550 kW from Japanese partners. They will be installed at two main boiler houses of the city. The cost of both generators is approximately 15 million hryvnias.


Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

The occupiers continue shelling the border settlements of еру Kupiansk, Kharkiv and Chuhuiv raions of the oblast.

Over the past day, under the fire of enemy artillery and mortars were: Kupiansk, Vovchansk, Dvorichna, Ohirtseve, Kyslivka, and other settlements.

A civilian industry building was damaged in Kupiansk. Also, the lyceum was partially destroyed in Dvorichna, Kupiansk Raion. There was a massive fire, which was extinguished within 3 hours.

According to the Oblast Center for Emergency Medical Care, a 75-year-old man was wounded in Dvorichna. He was hospitalized in a moderate condition.

Demining works are ongoing. During the day, experts of the State Emergency Service defused 135 explosive devices.


Donetsk Oblast

On January 5, russians killed 1 civilian of the Donetsk Oblast — in Bakhmut.

Three more people in the oblast were wounded.

Since February 24, the russian occupiers have taken the lives of 1,290 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast and wounded another 2,816 people. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.


Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

The occupiers attacked the towns of Avdiivka, Ocheretyne, and the villages of Vesele, Kamianka, Karlivka, and Krasnohorivka.

The day in Kurakhovo began with enemy artillery fire. The russians shelled the town center, hitting 2 high-rise buildings and 1 private house. A department of the local hospital was also damaged; according to preliminary information, one person was wounded there.

Avdiivka suffers from the shelling by the russian army every day. The other day, representatives of the NGO "Strong Communities" brought to the shell-riddled town the items that already protect and save the lives of both civilians and soldiers of the Territorial Defense Unit of Avdiivka.

On the eve of Orthodox Christmas, the Pokrovsk city military administration pleased the preschool children of the community with bright New Year's gifts. 760 sets of sweets were handed out today to the children of the Pokrovsk community in a festive atmosphere.


Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion

Russia shelled peaceful Kramatorsk again. Missile strikes damaged 14 private houses. Fortunately, there were no casualties. Residents of the city are promptly receiving assistance to eliminate the consequences of the shelling of Kramatorsk by russia this morning.


Mariupol

In Mariupol, the occupiers installed a bust of Lenin in the central alley of the oldest park "City Garden", which is called "Alley of Classics".


Luhansk Oblast

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are successful in the Svatove and Kreminna sectors. However, it is difficult to advance quickly in the terrain mined by russians.


Southern Oblast

Odesa Oblast

In Berezivka, 45-year-old marine Serhiy Bulavenko, who died while performing a combat mission near Marinka in the Donetsk Oblast, was laid to rest.

Humanitarian aid, including generators, heaters, canned food and garden film, arrived from Poland to the Odesa Oblast. Part of it was distributed among the communities of the oblast.

In Odesa, points for accepting Christmas trees have become operational. Residents are offered to exchange the Christmas tree for candy.


Mykolaiv Oblast

Yesterday, the enemy carried out artillery strikes on the water area of ​​Ochakiv community. There are no casualties.

In Mykolaiv, the Pervomaisk, Voznesensk and Bashtanska raions, the day and night passed relatively calmly.


Kherson Oblast

Over the past day, on January 5, the russian army shelled the Kherson Oblast 58 times with artillery, anti-aircraft guns, mortars and tanks. Six people died, four were injured.

Today Kherson was shelled 14 times by the russian military. The fire station, private and apartment buildings were damaged. A rescuer died, and four others were injured.

In the Kherson Oblast, a temporary detour is being set up due to the destroyed bridge on the Pravdyno-Myroliubivka road. The work should be completed by the end of January. 

As a result of shelling by the russian military on the coastal part of Kherson and the Dnipro water area around the city on January 2, fish died en masse. Damages are estimated at approximately UAH 390 million.

The State Bureau of Investigation employees searched the house of a collaborator, the so-called "head of the Kherson Oblast" Saldo. There they discovered russian documents with direct instructions to commit crimes against Ukraine, information about the structure of the occupation administration with the calculation of salaries in rubles, and information about Kherson patriots and activists. As well as soviet heraldry, awards and ribbons of St. George. 


Central oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

On the night of January 6, russian troops shelled the Nikopol Raion of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. There are no injured or dead. Several private houses, a gas pipeline and a power line were damaged.

Belgian shepherd Una serves in the Dnipro brigade of the National Guard. At the end of September she found the dead in the rubble of a private house. A whole family died from a rocket attack by the russian army - a mother, a grandmother and two children. For this, Una received the "For devoted service" award.

Cherkasy Oblast

A consolidated detachment of Cherkasy police offecers will carry out stabilization measures in the Kharkiv Oblast liberated from the enemy. The main tasks of law enforcement officers will be to ensure security and order, provide comprehensive support to the civilian population, and document crimes of the russian federation.

The drawing of the seventh-grader of the Cherkasy "Berehynia" collegium, Vladyslava Serbina, was chosen as a model for making postcards for the front line. The schoolgirl depicted the New Year Cathedral Square of Cherkassy with a Christmas tree and sent it to the All-Ukrainian competition. 30 competitive works addressed to Heroes took part in it. 


Kirovohrad Oblast

On January 6, it became known about the death of ten fighters from the Kirovohrad Oblast: Serhii Boyko from the village of Vyshniakivka of the Sokoly community in the Kropyvnytskyi Raion, Maksym Semediiem from the city of Dolynsk of the Kropyvnytskyi Raion, Dmytro Panshyn from Oleksandria, Vasyl Kuzurza from Holovanivsk, Vitaly Kravchuk from the village of Novoyehorivka of the Rivne community of the Novoukrainka Raion, Ivan Dvoriak and Anatoliy Vdovenko of the Svitlovodsk community of the Oleksandria Raion, Oleksandr Bulavka from the village of Novy Starodub of the Petrove community of the Oleksandria Raion, Mykola Sliusarenko from Dolynsk of the Kropyvnytskyi Raion.

The body of missing in April ,24-year-old Illia Hryshchenko from the Smoline community of the Novoukrainka Raion, was found in one of the mass graves near the village of Oleksandrivka in the Kherson Raion of the Kherson Oblast, after the deoccupation of those territories.

The staff of the Novgorodka settlement council of the Kropyvnytskyi Raion handed over funds to the special forces veteran, volunteer Vadym Dovhoruk, for the purchase of special equipment for the soldiers.


Poltava Oblast

On Christmas Eve in the Poltava Oblast, they will say goodbye to a fallen soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Vladyslav Lisovy served in the air assault troops and had the rank of soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Andriy Budantsev, a soldier of the 81st separate airmobile brigade, died during another fire raid. Before the start of the war, he worked in the "Verholy" spa complex. On the first day of the full-scale invasion, he volunteered.

Volodymyr Rud lived in the village of Velika Bahachka. The soldier served in the military service as the commander of a combat vehicle - the commander of a mechanized battalion department. A military man died on December 28 in the Luhansk Oblast from injuries received as a result of tank fire.

The soldier Dmytro Lysachenko was from Horishni Plavni. The warrior defended the country in the hottest battlefront and died from the enemy projectile in the dugout.

It is planned to lay down 9 million hryvnias for the repair of the sector of honorable burials of fallen soldiers in Poltava. If these funds are allocated, a memorial complex will be built in the sector in 2023. A lighted memorial will appear in the designated area.

The project will include the installation of video cameras to protect burial sites from vandals. There will be benches in front of the memorial. At the end of the alley, a Cossack cross and plaques about missing persons will be installed.

The Academic Oblast Puppet Theater conducts "Puppet Therapy" - free master classes for families of IDPs. The actors discuss the ideas of the fairy tale with the guests, and then play a mini-performance using professional theater puppets.

During the past year, theatergoers held 40 master classes for about 900 visitors. "Puppet therapy" will be continued in 2023.


Western Oblasts

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

Kamianets-Podilskyi

During the first days of the new year, the Department of Social Protection served 363 people. 122 of them applied for one-time financial aid, 236 - for other types of state payments. Also, 236 homeowners who sheltered internally displaced persons applied for compensation for utility services.

As part of the "Children of War" project, young Ukrainians who came to Kamianets-Podilskyi from the regions of hostilities for recovery and recreation visited the "Castles of Ukraine" museum of miniatures. Next, they have a planned trip to Bakota, and before that they had an excursion to Khotyn. 


Rivne Oblast 

Today in Rivne, a solemn farewell was held for defender sergeant Oleksandr Kovalchuk, who died on December 28, 2022, while repelling enemy assaults near the city of Soledar (Donetsk Oblast).  

In Rivne Oblast, the first Oblast Defense Council of the new year was held, which made important decisions. Heads of territorial communities together with raion military administrations and military command must work out the need for funds to support defense measures. It is necessary to provide funding for the construction, repair, maintenance of military, engineering and fortification facilities, expansion of the system of engineering barriers, etc. The executive committees of village, township, and city councils in the oblast must ensure the priority allocation of reserve funds of local budgets for the measures of the legal regime of martial law.  

Two hundred candles were made in the Povcha Lyceum (Dubno Raion). The employees of the institution collected funds and bought 75 kilograms of paraffin, from which these candles were made. Some of them have already been handed over to the military, and the rest are on the way. The teachers of the Goshcha Academic Lyceum also make trench candles. In their spare time, they prepare metal cans, fill them with twisted cardboard and pour melted wax. Over 200 trench candles were made in 2 days of joint work.

The staff of the Kysorychi Lyceum (Rokytne Raion) collected aid for the defenders. They made 174 trench candles, donated 50 pairs of socks, lots of preserves and cards with wishes from children. Also, the institution held a charity Christmas carol: students of grades 5-11 collected 15,290 hryvnias. These funds were transferred to the purchase of a thermal imager for Yurii Atamanchuk, a soldier from the village of Kysorychi.


Zakarpattia Oblast

In Uzhhorod, free hot lunches continue to be served in Bozdoskyi Park. The organizers are the NGO "Quality of Life Foundation" together with the city council and the special emergency rescue squad of the State Emergency Service of the Zakarpattia Oblast. The purpose of the campaign is to help people who are left without housing, electricity and heat supply. Taking into account the frequent lack of electricity, both internally displaced persons and residents of Uzhhorod who want to warm themselves with hot food are fed here.

Three ice arenas will be built in Zakarpattia. The President of the Hockey Federation of Ukraine, Heorhii Zubko, announced a joint program with Zakarpattia Oblast Military Administration for the development of hockey in the oblast. It involves the construction of three indoor ice rinks for training and competitions in Uzhgorod and two other raion centers. It is also planned to create a children's and youth sports school with hockey departments, which will provide recruitment and a professional training process. Funds for this will be received at the expense of international donors.
