About us: The "Active Community" initiative was launched by activists of the "Republika'' Institute after the Euromaidan (2014), which focused on the activation and involvement of Ukrainians in the decision-making process. The goal for 2025: to activate and involve at least 1% of citizens in making decisions and promoting reforms in Ukraine on a systematic basis for the well-being of Ukrainian communities. Today we work in 30 communities in Ukraine.

Northern Oblast

Kyiv

On the initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, the second Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen took place on July 23. The main purpose of the event was to discuss the post-war future of our country and the world, as well as to collect funds for an ambulance for Ukraine.


Kyiv Oblast

In the residential complex "Green Yard" in the city of Irpin, the replacement of windows and doors, which were damaged as a result of hostilities, is in progress. Some of the apartments burned completely. The restoration of the residential complex continues with the funds of the reserve fund of the state budget.


Zhytomyr Oblast

Representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue the interaction of defense headquarters at all levels. Representatives of the security forces patrol and are on duty at checkpoints

The leadership of the Zhytomyr Oblast military administration took part in the discussion of the implementation of the cross-sectoral project of the United Nations Children's Fund "UNICEF" in the Zhytomyr Oblast.

Oleksandr Nikitenko from Zhytomyr became the winner of the installation competition for the Ozdemir Bayraktar National Technological Center.

During the full-scale war, four churches were damaged in Zhytomyr and the Oblast as a result of the russian invasion.

The regional coordinator provided information to citizens about receiving psychological help.


Chernihiv Oblast

Air alarms have been sounding since morning. The night passed peacefully.

During the past day, the russians shelled the border areas of the Oblast. The Novgorod-Siversk community was shelled. The russians opened fire from the trunk community. About 30 explosions were recorded.


Sumy Oblast

During the day, an air alert sounded in the region.

Since February 24, more than 2,000 explosive objects have been found, neutralized and destroyed in the Oblast.

The Sumy Public Fund and the Sumy Oblast Football Association organized a football collection for first-aid kits for defenders of Ukraine. Participants collected 3100 hryvnias for the tournament.

In Sumy, the photo exhibition "Zvirokosturi bubbling" was held, dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of the artist, one of the founders of futurism, David Burlyuk. Myets was born in the territory of modern Sumy Oblast.


Eastern Oblast

Donetsk Oblast

Two more schools were destroyed by the Russian occupiers in Donetsk Oblast this morning - in Kostyantynivka and Bakhmut. In addition, in Novodmitrivka, a kindergarten was damaged by russian fire. Around 5 a.m., a russian rocket hit the outskirts of the Kurakhiv community and destroyed a private house. The shelling of Siversk, Maryinka and Krasnohorivka does not stop - private houses and commercial facilities are damaged. There is currently no information about the victims.

In the Slavyansk direction, the enemy shelled the areas of Chepil, Bogorodichny and Adamivka with artillery.

In the Kramatorsk direction, shelling was recorded near Starodubivka, Dronivka, Piskunivka, Siversk, Spirnyi and Ivano-Daryivka. The occupiers also used anti-aircraft fire.

Since the beginning of the russian invasion of Ukraine, as a result of shelling and bombing in Donetsk Oblast, 639 civilians have been killed, and another 1,652 have been injured.

On July 23, the russians killed 2 civilians of Donetsk Oblast: 1 in Avdiivka and 1 in Toretsk. 2 more people were injured.


Kramatorsk 

No enemy actions were recorded in Kramatorsk.

On his Facebook page, the mayor of the city published an appeal to residents who are trying to divide citizens into categories, not to do this, but rather to unite for a common fight against the enemy.

The situation in the community remains alarming.

The coordinator of the AUI "Active Community" held classes for children and children with disabilities who remained in the city.


Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion 

In the Avdiyiv direction, systematic shelling was recorded in the areas of Avdiyivka, Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, private houses and commercial facilities were damaged.

Around 5 a.m., a russian rocket hit the outskirts of the Kurakhiv community, destroying a private house.

In some areas, the occupiers are trying to improve the engineering equipment of defensive lines and positions.

The past day in the Pokrovsk community was relatively calm. No facts were recorded regarding casualties and destruction during the day.

IDPs who evacuated to the Pokrovsk community received humanitarian aid from Ukraine Hilfe Henstedt-Ulzburg.


Bakhmut

In the direction of Bakhmut, the enemy is conducting combat operations with the aim of creating conditions for an offensive on Bakhmut and taking over the territory of the Vugleghirskaya TPP. He carried out shelling of military and civilian infrastructure in the areas of Zaitseve, Vershina, Berestov, Shumy, Bakhmut, New York, Bakhmutske, Pokrovske, Novoluhanske, Vesele and other settlements. He used attack and army aviation.

From different directions, the enemy carried out assaults with the aim of establishing control over the territory of the Vuglehirskaya TPP. Ukrainian soldiers pushed the invaders back again.

A school was destroyed in Bakhmut. People have tears instead of words. The russians destroy all the best.

The coordinator of AUI"Active Community" was engaged in the organization of an event for young people, which will be held jointly with the Cherkasy Youth Council on July 27.


Southern Oblast

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

Over the past day, on July 23, the russian military shelled civilian infrastructure in the areas of settlements Novooleksandrivka, Hryhorivka, Kanivske, Kamianske, Zaliznychne, Gulyaipole Orihiv. There were 11 reports of destruction due to shelling.

On the morning of July 23, the russian military launched a missile attack in the area of ​​the contact line and near the regional center. There were no casualties or injuries.

On Saturday, in Zaporizhzhia, as well as in 15 other cities of Ukraine, a race was held in support of the Mariupol garrison. About 250 people took part in the "Running for Azovstal" flash mob.

On the night of July 23-24, explosions rang out near Melitopol (in the area of ​​the airport captured by the russians and the village of Kostyantynivka). According to the mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, the railway infrastructure in the Melitopol Raion, which was used by the occupiers to transport military equipment and personnel in the direction of Vasylivka and Tokmak, was damaged. This greatly complicates logistics for the russian military.


Kherson Oblast

The occupying authorities of the Kherson region began to organize election rallies and create election commissions to hold a referendum on the accession of the temporarily occupied territories to the russian federation.

Pressure on school teachers and their management continues.

The Kherson Oblast is becoming a place of mass burials, both by the russians of their military personnel in order not to pay compensation for their deaths, and of Ukrainian servicemen and civilian residents killed and tortured by the invaders – that’s what people say. 


Skadovsk

From yesterday until today, the Internet connection was muted again.

The Russians are heavily guarding the checkpoints. More and more equipment is being brought in. Today, the russians again fired cruise missiles from Skadovsk into the free territories of Ukraine.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine destroy clusters of the occupiers. Russian ammunition is burning and exploding in Nova Kakhovka.

The mayor continues to work remotely, there has been no news in recent days.

People hold on, continue to somehow work and survive in the occupied oblast.

Critical situation. The city seems to be dead, empty and no longer quiet, because shots and explosions are heard from all sides, sirens sound day and night. ATMs, banks, utilities do not work. There are small grocery stores and a market. One pharmacy is open in the city, which does not even have the most necessary medical supplies. Prices for everything have skyrocketed.

The regional coordinator of the AUI “Active Community” joined volunteering activities, taking care of providing the residents of Skadovsk with medicines.


Odesa Oblast

The Operational Command "South" informs: On July 23, the enemy attacked the Odesa sea trade port with Kalibr cruise missiles, 2 missiles were shot down by the air defense units, and another 2 hit the infrastructure of the port. 

The mayor of Odessa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, noted on his Facebook page: “The russian invaders again launched a missile attack on Odessa. This time - the port of Odessa. And, what is noteworthy, immediately after the agreement on the unblocking of Ukrainian ports for the export of grain, which was signed the day before in Istanbul. This is yet another confirmation that any agreements with terrorists are impossible. We have only one way out - victory over the aggressor. All these acts of vandalism and war crimes indicate that we need to include the historical center of Odessa in the Main List of UNESCO World Heritage Sites as soon as possible. And to protect our architecture from attacks of the occupiers, who, as we have been convinced many times, do not cherish any values whatsoever."

The day of July 24 passed quietly.

People are united and active, involved in volunteering, and take part in charity events.

The city authorities report that the situation is currently under control, but the threat of missile attacks remains.

Every year in Odessa at the end of July, the Odessa International Film Festival is held with the traditional red carpet, film premieres, and participation of world cinema stars. This year the war caused changes in the plans. Despite this, the event will take place, however, in a different format and in several locations around the world. Thus, the program of the Odessa Film Festival will be broadcast at the film festivals in Norway, Canada, the Czech Republic, Kosovo, and Poland. Already on July 26-31, special screenings of Ukrainian films will take place at the PriFest film festival in Kosovo. The events are organized jointly with the Odessa International Film Festival. The program of special screenings will include full-length and short films by Ukrainian debutant film directors, which were included in the competition program of the XIII Odessa International Film Festival.

Central oblasts

Kirovohrad Oblast

An air raid alert was announced in the oblast - there was a threat of a missile strike. In general, the situation in the communities is quiet and under control.

The head of the Kirovohrad Oblast Military Administration, Andrii Raikovych, said that yesterday's missile attacks on the Kirovohrad Oblast were so powerful and barbaric that even some houses in Kropyvnytskyi were damaged by the shock wave. He gave the task to examine them, make a clear register of what was destroyed or damaged by the shock wave, and professionally establish the extent of the damage. There is an appropriate fund for compensation of losses. In the houses where the glass was blown away, work began immediately. The city authorities will not leave the family, whose house suffered the most, without help.

In Haivoron, there are plans to create a shelter for internally displaced persons in a building that used to be a railway hospital. It will suffice to accommodate about 250 people. The first to settle there will be IDPs from the Donetsk Oblast, who currently live in a kindergarten. Here, kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, recreation premises and children's rooms will be equipped for them. Part of the work on the arrangement of the future shelter is carried out at the expense of charitable contributions by the employees of the City Council, the public utility company Haivoronskyi Komunalnyk, volunteers, as well as the IDPs themselves International organizations, including Doctors Without Borders, also joined this cooperative effort.

Oleksandria again suffered a heavy loss. On July 9, soldier Oleksandr Yarkovyi, born in 1981, was killed in action, while performing a combat mission.

The coordinator of the AUI "Active Community" worked at the Humanitarian Center named after St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, helping IDPs from the Kharkiv Oblast to receive food packages, and also providing psychological assistance.


Poltava Oblast

Kristina Zosimova and Ivan Pash from the Poltava Oblast were killed in action in the war. Kristina Zosimova enrolled in military service under a contract. She had the status of a participant in hostilities. She was killed on July 18 during a clash with the enemy. Ivan Pash from the Myrhorod community was a rifleman of the 2nd rifle company of the military unit A4020. Killed on July 20. 

Anna Arkhipova from Poltava became a prototype for creating a LEGO toy. The girl is 22 years old and she is a comms officer of the 93rd brigade "Kholodnyi Yar". Earlier, we wrote about the figurine of paramedic Kateryna Halushka, who also comes from Poltava. In general, The Brothers Brick company dedicated its new toys to three representatives of the military personnel in Ukraine. Two of them are from the Poltava Oblast.

Changes to the oblast budget were preliminarily approved at the budget committee of the Oblast Council. More than 913 million hryvnias were redistributed to the main areas - defense, medicine, and education. 

The harvesting campaign continues in the Poltava Oblast. 67 thousand hectares of land under early grain and leguminous crops have been threshed. A total of almost 274,000 tons were collected.

The Oblast Clinical Hospital continues to receive humanitarian aid. This week, the medical institution received a modern anesthetic and respiratory apparatus, medicines for various purposes, and emergency medical aid kits. 

Poltava businesses continue to help Ukrainian military – they provided our soldiers with three cars.

The Poltava Oblast received two new ambulances from the Red Cross. These are ultra-modern Toyota cars of the "C" class.

Elon Musk's US company SpaceX transferred 8 Starlink stations to Ukrainian military. 

A patriotic race was held in Poltava to support the defenders of Azovstal at the front and in captivity, and to honor the memory of the fallen.

The event took place near the Assumption Cathedral - the exhibition "Angels of Hope" began there. Craftsmen sell pottery and ceramic items, and conduct master classes there.

The Poltava branch of the AUI "Active Community" holds an art therapy event "Black Pizza" for IDP families in the premises of the "Giraffe" playroom. This event was eagerly awaited by children and their parents.


Vinnytsia Oblast

Khmilnyk and Khmilnyk Raion

At night and in the morning, air alarms sounded.

The past day passed peacefully in the Khmilnyk community.

The other day, another artesian well was put into operation in the Kalynivka community (Khmilnyk Raion), which will provide residents with high-quality drinking water.


Western Oblasts

Rivne Oblast

As of 5:30 p.m., there was one air alert.

Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine patroled the border with belarus. Representatives of the local Territorial Defense unit patroled and are on duty at checkpoints.

20 proceedings for collaborationism were opened by the police of the Rivne Oblast during the 5 months of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine.

560 liters of cucumbers were salted for Ukrainian military by educators from the village of Babyn in the Rivne Oblast.

A 12-year-old Mlyn resident helps the military. In particular, the schoolboy and his friends wove two camouflage nets.

In Varash, local artists was painting a picture with a map of Ukraine for two and a half months. Each area was painted by a different artist. The work has been completed, now it is planned to hold an auction, and the received money will be handed over to the Ukrainian military.


Khmelnytskyi Oblast

Three "Kalibr" cruise missiles launched from the Black Sea were shot down over Khmelnytskyi Oblast. This was reported in the Air Force Command of Ukraine.

The wreckage fell in a field of the Kamianets-Podilskyi Raion. Field fires have been eliminated.

Also, a missile fell in a forest, as a result an explosion and smoke occurred in the area of the village in the Khmelnytskyi Raion. There were no victims.

In Khmelnytskyi, books are collected for wounded soldiers. Literature should be brought to the premises of the sports and cultural center "Ploskyriv". Books can be of different genres, but exclusively in Ukrainian and in good condition. 

The coordinators of AUI "Active Community" collected and handed over scooters and bicycles for the children of IDPs living in the Staroushytsia community.


Kamianets-Podilskyi

Today, three rockets flew at Kamianets-Podilskyi, but thanks to the anti-aircraft defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, all three were shot down near the city.

The mayor once again called not to ignore the air alert signals and to go down to the shelter.

Yesterday, more than 300 residents of Kamianets joined a charity run in support of the families of "Azovstal" defenders.

The coordinator of AUI "Active Community" took an active part in the presentation of the book "Poems for Children about War" by Ukrainian children's writer, storyteller and artist Sergii Bodnar. 

The organizers of the charity concert of opera music for the military invited regional coordinator Slavko Polyatynchuk to moderate the concert. Charitable contributions will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 


Chernivtsi Oblast

In the morning in the Chernivtsi Oblast, an air alert signal sounded for an hour. The situation is calm and under control at the moment.

Bukovyna paid the last respects to the Hero, who at the cost of his own life repelled the onslaught of the russian invaders. Soldier Roman Skulchak was buried with honors in the city of Vyzhnytsia.

"We fight for those who were with us and for those who are behind us at home. We're holding our line!" - Bukovyna paratrooper Petro Haydashchuk said about 150 days of war.

The Yurkivtsi community accepted more than 120 orphans and children deprived of parental care. They were evacuated from the Mykolaiv shelter.

In Chernivtsi, a company that before the war was engaged in the production of windows and doors, since the beginning of the war, has provided shelter to more than a thousand people. Currently, thirty IDPs live in the company's former workshops and offices. Most of them have already found a job. 

The team of AUI "Active Community" of Chernivtsi, in cooperation with the Bukovyna Center of Culture and Art, organized another master class on tying shawls in folk style for internally displaced persons. The participants were introduced to the stories and customs associated with wearing this headdress. Writer, literary critic, ethnographer Ivanna Ivanivna Stefyuk taught the participants how to create various looks. The event attracted the attention of 15 families from Kharkiv, Dnipro, Mariupol, Severodonetsk, Bucha, Berdiansk and Polohy.


Zakarpattya Oblast

The Zakarpattya Oblast Defense Council decided to lift restrictions on the sale of alcoholic beverages to civilians from July 23. 

There will be no Uzhhorod Regatta this year, but Big City Ride will be organized.  

In Zakarpattya, the production of body armor and means for demining was established.

Because of the war, the man and his family moved from Kharkiv to Zakarpattya. Already here, he applies his knowledge and skills to the production of bulletproof vests. He gives the drawings free of charge to all craftsmen who help the Ukrainian military.
