About us: The "Active Community" initiative was launched by activists of the "Republika'' Institute after the Euromaidan (2014), which focused on the activation and involvement of Ukrainians in the decision-making process. The goal for 2025: to activate and involve at least 1% of citizens in making decisions and promoting reforms in Ukraine on a systematic basis for the well-being of Ukrainian communities. Today we work in 30 communities in Ukraine.

Northern Oblasts

Kyiv Oblast

The body of a tortured Ukrainian was found near the former positions of the russians in Novy Zalissa, Buchansky Raion.The hands of the deceased were tied with a rope with a fastening through an iron carabiner of the towing cable. Everything indicates that the man was strangled before his death.

In the Makariv community, repair work is ongoing on 28 objects of the private housing stock.


Chernihiv Oblast

On July 30, the vicinity of one of the villages of the Horodnya community was shelled twice, around 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. The russians fired mortar fire from the russian settlement of Chornozemny Horodok. 21 explosions were recorded. There are no casualties.


Sumy Oblast

In the morning at approximately 5:30 a.m., the russians opened fire with mortars and barrel artillery on the Myropil community. There are more than 50 arrivals, as a result of which a local farm caught fire.

Over the past day, pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service in Sumy Oblast destroyed 80 explosive objects, three were found. Also, pyrotechnicians of the Interregional Rapid Response Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Shostky district discovered and destroyed two high-explosive fragmentation aerial bombs.


Eastern Oblasts 

Kharkiv Oblast

At night, the russian occupiers struck the Nemyshlyan Raion of Kharkiv. There are no casualties. There is a damaged production building. Equipment and finished printing products were burned. Recorded strikes by the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system.

Around 5:00 p.m., a fire broke out in a commercial building of the private sector in Kyiv Raion as a result of the strikes.

In the Oblast, the occupiers attacked Kharkiv, Izyum, Chuguyiv, and Bogodukhiv Raions. Open areas, private houses, farm buildings, and again fields with crops burned. A 37-year-old combine harvester was injured when a mine blew up in the village of Vilkhivka.

During the day, a 39-year-old man was wounded by russian shelling in the Dergachiv community.


Donetsk Oblast

In the Slavyansk direction, the enemy launched artillery fire near Andriivka, Dolyna, Krasnopill, Mazanivka, and Adamivka. He led an assault near Dmytrivka, was unsuccessful, withdrew.

He unsuccessfully tried to use a sabotage-reconnaissance group near the Valley, suffered losses and withdrew.

 In the Donetsk direction, the enemy is trying to improve the tactical position in the Bakhmut and Avdiiv directions. Conducts assault operations with the support of assault and army aviation. Trying to determine the defense system of Ukrainian units.

In the Siversk direction, he carried out artillery fire near Sloviansk, Siversk, Vyimka, Spirny and Serebryanka. He carried out airstrikes in the vicinity of Spirny and Hryhorivka.

An attempt to reconnoitre the positions of the front edge in the direction of Streapivka - Soledar was unsuccessful, the enemy's reconnaissance group was detected and neutralized. Air reconnaissance by enemy UAVs near Pavlograd, Kramatorsk and Ozerny was recorded.

In the Avdiiv region, the occupiers shelled the districts of Novokalynovy, Tonenkoy, Opytny, Vodyany, Piskiy, and Nevelsky. The enemy carried out airstrikes near Avdiyivka and Novoselyvka. He led assaults in the direction of Vesele - Pisky and Lozivskyi - Pisky, was unsuccessful, withdrew. The enemy used unmanned aerial vehicles for reconnaissance in the Pokrovsk and Avdiyivka area.

On July 30, the russians killed 3 civilians of Donetsk Oblast: 2 in Riznikivka and 1 in Maidan. Another 8 people were injured.

Since February 24, the russians have killed 665 civilians of Donetsk Oblast, injured another 1,719.

Free evacuation is carried out in the region with accommodation in communities of the Kirovohrad Oblast.The Donetsk Oblast Military Administration informs, August 1, 2022 at 4 p.m. 30 min. a free Pokrovsk-Kropivnytskyi evacuation train departs from the city of Pokrovsk. Free buses run from populated areas of Donetsk Oblast to Pokrovsk city station. The evacuation train stops in the cities of Oleksandria and Kropyvnytskyi. Evacuated citizens are accommodated free of charge, if desired, in communal facilities and in private houses of the Kirovohrad Oblast. After arriving at the place of settlement, citizens are provided with an appropriate level of social protection, in particular, they receive a one-time cash benefit. Evacuation is free of charge.

Also, an operation to save children is being conducted in the Oblast.



Kramatorsk

The day passed relatively calmly. No shelling was recorded.

The communal production enterprise "Kramatorsky Vodokanal" reports that the pumping station on the "Siverskyi Donets-Donbas" canal has been de-energized due to hostilities. As a result, the supply of technical water will be reduced and on July 31, the filtering station and booster pumping stations of the city of Kramatorsk will be stopped. The further work of water supply facilities will be notified in addition.

The city authorities urge residents to stock up on water.

Residents are excited about the information about the "forced evacuation" that is spreading on the Internet. Everyone is waiting for an explanation from the authorities regarding this process.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion 

The towns of Avdiivka, Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, and Novogrodivka of the Pokrovsk Raion came under enemy fire.

The past day in the Pokrovsk community was relatively calm.

During the working trip, the head of the Avdiivka city military administration, Vitaliy Barabash, together with his deputy, Serhiy Legenky, and the management of the social welfare department, visited several settlements in Central Ukraine in order to find the best conditions for the accommodation of people from Avdiivka. The communities of Umani and Kamianskyi invite the people of Avdiivka to their home.


Bakhmut

In the direction of Bakhmut, the enemy fired artillery in the areas of Perevizne, Fedorivka, Yakovlivka, Pokrovske, Vesela Dolyna, Semihirya, Kostyantynivka and Zalizne settlements. Airstrikes near Bakhmut.

The occupiers tried to improve their tactical position in the direction of Rota - Vershina and Pokrovske - Bakhmut by assaulting them, and retreated with losses.



Luhansk oblast

The enemy does not stop trying to improve the tactical position in order to attack Bakhmut and nearby settlements on the border of Luhansk region and Donetsk Oblast. The infantry of the russians is supported by assault and army aviation. So, during July 30, airstrikes were recorded near seven cities and villages.

An infection is spreading in Severodonetsk, probably due to the consumption of water from wells where decomposition products got into. 

With HIMARS, enemy fire has decreased and enemy logistics have deteriorated.


Southern oblasts

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

After the strikes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the night of July 29 at the location of the forces of the russian invaders near the villages of Verkhniy Tokmak and Chernihivka, the russian armed forces withdrew their personnel from the territory of these villages.

More than 4,000 people are trying to leave temporarily occupied Melitopol. Russian occupiers come up with new reasons to complicate the evacuation. Thus, starting August 1, it will be necessary to be issued special passes to leave the temporarily occupied territory.

Yevhen Tselik, a Kyiv resident, came from the capital city to Zaporizhzhia on foot. His hiking trip began in the morning of July 7 and ended in the evening of July 30. A volunteer walked more than 500 km to raise a million hryvnias for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As of July 31, more than 980 thousand hryvnias were collected.


Mykolaiv Oblast

Tonight, after 01:00 and in the morning around 05:00, Mykolaiv was shelled. One person was killed and two others were wounded. As a result of shelling, a hotel, a sports complex, two educational institutions, and a service station were damaged. Some residential buildings were also damaged.

Oleksiy Vadaturskiy, Hero of Ukraine, general director of agricultural enterprise "Nibulon", was killed as a result of the shelling. He was 74 years old. In 2021, Forbes estimated the businessman's fortune at $430 million. This was announced in the Telegram channel by the head of the oblast military administration Vitaliy Kim. 

Several fires broke out at the places where the shells hit - a two-story building, an extension to a residential building, two garages, and two outbuildings caught fire.


Odesa Oblast

The day passed quietly.

An anchor mine was carried by the current to the coast in the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Raion, which was ripped off the anchor by a storm and drifted a few meters from the shore. The Defense Forces promptly responded with a controlled detonation of the explosive item in the water.

The functioning port of Odesa is like a breath of fresh air for Ukraine and its economy. Acting Deputy Mayor Oleh Bryndak said this in an interview with the Al Jazeera TV channel. According to him, the grain that will be sent from the ports is almost the only foreign exchange revenue that Ukraine can receive today.

People are united and active in volunteering. The situation is tense due to the threat of missile attacks.

The coordinator of the AUI "Active Community" provided information to citizens about receiving psychological, social and humanitarian assistance.


Central oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

The day before yesterday, July 29, residential quarters of Nikopol were shelled from multiple launch rocket systems. Up to 40 rockets were fired from the Grad MLRS. 6 private houses and 24 outbuildings were damaged. There were fires on the site.

Yesterday, up to 80 rockets were fired at Nikopol. In Nikopol, the aggressor hit the administrative building of an enterprise. There was a fire there. It has already been put out. Five trucks and a tractor were wrecked. Shops and outbuildings were damaged. Shell fragments destroyed 1 private house and an outbuilding. 15 residential buildings and 16 outbuildings of the private sector were damaged. One car was wrecked. Power lines down one of the streets were cut.

At night, the enemy attacked Nikopol using the Grad MLRS. The russians fired up to 50 rockets. They targeted the infrastructure and residential areas. A man was wounded in the shelling. Shells hit the motor vehicle company. 2 buses burned down, another 10 were wrecked. The administration building was damaged. 1 private house was destroyed. 22 private houses and 9 outbuildings were damaged. The low-pressure gas pipeline and the water pipeline were broken. A school, a kindergarten, and several city institutions were also hit. There is destruction in 7 high-rise buildings. There are broken balconies and windows. 4 cars that were parked nearby were damaged.

In the morning, the enemy again attacked the city of Nikopol. Two cruise missiles were fired.

In connection with enemy shelling, the Nikopol Raion police received 15 appeals from civilians. For each call, investigative and operational teams, criminologists, explosives experts, and rescuers work at the scene of events.

The enemy fired from tube artillery at the villages of Velyka Kostromka and Marianske of the Zelenodolsk community. In Velyka Kostromka, the aggressor hit the area between the warehouses of a private enterprise. The fire caused by shelling also occurred outside Marianske. Residential buildings were damaged. Dry grass caught fire.

Fighters of the 25th brigade from the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast shot down a russian Su-25 fighter.

In Dnipro, a fan of the russian world was imprisoned for 5 years. The man gathered intelligence information about the deployment and movement of military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and passed it on to the russian invaders, and also supported the Russian occupation on social networks.

The head of the Kryvyi Rih military administration, Oleksandr Vilkul, offers 50,000 hryvnias each for information about the henchmen of the occupiers in Kryvyi Rih.

In Dnipro, they raised almost 400,000 hryvnias for the Chaklun drone for the Dnipropetrovsk aerial reconnaissance unit. The residents of Dnipro collected this amount within just one week.

An exhibition of military weapons has opened in Dnipro. The exposition includes about 40 exhibits: fragments of enemy missiles and drones, artillery shells and mines collected in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

Also, an exhibition of russian military equipment destroyed by the Ukrainian military was opened in Kryvyi Rih.

The regional coordinator was busy buying ammunition for the military and helping the elderly.


Kirovohrad Oblast

An air raid alert sounded, and there was a threat of a missile attack on Kropyvnytskyi.

Currently, the situation in the communities is quiet and under control.

After the attacks on Mykolaiv, the head of the Kirovohrad Oblast Military Administration, Andriy Raikovych, appealed to the townspeople to hand over polyethylene film rolls to the affected city. The people of Mykolaiv urgently need the film. If it is available, people are asked to contact the Kropyvnytskyi City Council.

In the Kirovohrad Oblast, the organizer of the scheme of selling forged documents to draft dodgers was detained. According to the investigation, the suspect organized a scheme for the production and sale of forged documents and forms certifying studies in foreign institutions of higher education for unhindered crossing of the state border. For 3,500 US dollars, he provided a package of necessary documents for moving across the state border to the EU countries to persons subject to mobilization under martial law. The man was detained while transferring part of the funds to him - 2,000 US dollars.

Volunteer Kateryna Musenko from Oleksandria bakes buns for Ukrainian defenders. In this way, she has been helping the army since the second month of the full-scale russian invasion, and during this time, according to her calculations, more than 5,000 delicacies have been cooked and shipped to the front. Kateryna transfers her humanitarian aid only to the military on the front lines. She does this via volunteer centers and with the help of individual volunteers from Kropyvnytskyi, Svitlovodsk, and Znamianka.

The coordinator of the AUI "Active Community" worked at the Humanitarian Center named after St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, helping citizens to receive food packages.


Poltava Oblast

The curfew has been shortened in the region. Starting from July 28, it lasts from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. 

In Poltava, they said goodbye to three defenders of Ukraine: Oleksiy Kushnirenko, Oleg Zdanevich, Artem Negrebetsky.

Another soldier from the Poltava region died for Ukraine - Serhiy Serdyuk.

Soldiers from Poltava region were posthumously awarded with awards: Andriy Sokolovsky with the "Defender of the Fatherland" medal, Ruslan Dzyuba with the Order "For Courage" III degree.

The state, the oblast and the city have a clear plan on how to provide heat to Kremenchug residents. The details were discussed at a meeting with the participation of Deputy Minister of Community Development and Territories of Ukraine Nataliya Khotsyanivska, regional authorities, Kremenchuk authorities, and managers of thermal utilities. 

The regional military administration signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Czech humanitarian organization "People in need". The organization provides assistance to displaced persons in Poltava Oblast. 

Schools of the region can connect to the electronic system "My School" for free. It is a complete learning ecosystem for students, parents and teachers. Chat, online lessons, assessments, homework, materials, schedules, teacher plans, and dozens of other options. The regional military administration also signed a corresponding memorandum with partners. 

The plaque to Ivan Paskevychu, which was dismantled in Poltava the other day, has been given to the local history museum.

 

Vinnytsia Oblast

Khmilnyk and Khmilnytskyi district

The past day passed peacefully in the Khmelnytskyi community.

The teachers of the Kozyatyn Lyceum of the Khmilnytskyi district learned to provide first aid in various difficult situations.

70% of this year's crop of the early grain group has already been harvested in the Kalinivska community of the Khmilnytskyi district.

The coordinator of Ukrainian Innitiative "Active Community" of Khmilnyk and Khmilnytskyi district was preparing the material for the next event - a ten-minute information session.


Western regions

Rivne Oblast

Rivne city

The general situation in the city is relatively calm, as of 4:30 p.m. there were no air alarms.

Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine patrol the border with belarus. Representatives of the security forces patrol and are on duty at checkpoints.

112,000 hryvnias were collected in Rokytny and 53,000 hryvnias in Zdovbytsa at charity fairs. In Rokytniv region, they sang patriotic songs, sold sweets and handmade products. Various entertainment for children was also arranged. The military, doctors and rescuers conducted master classes. The initiators of the fair in Zdovbytsa were educators and the local government. The participants of the event sold homemade baked goods and confectionery, refreshing drinks, paintings, handmade soap and more. All funds of the community will be transferred to the needs of the military. 

The Rivne Regional Museum of Local Lore is gathering a collection of signs with the names of streets that have lost their relevance after renaming. The initiator of this is senior research associate Halyna Danylchuk. Halyna Danylchuk has been gathering a collection of old Rivne street name signs for several years. Some exhibits from this collection are considered trophies by the local expert. After the Rivne Council's decision to rename streets that have ties to the Russian Federation and Russian figures, the collection may be replenished, suggested Galina Danylchuk, and called on Rivne residents to bring signs with outdated names to the museum.


Zdovbytsa

The general situation in the region is calm. There were no air alarms today. More than 200 internally displaced persons live in the community.

As part of the celebration of the Day of Ukrainian Statehood, charity fairs were held in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Employees of the Zdovbytsk village council, Zdovbytsk cultural center, lyceums of the Zdovbytsk community, kindergarten and local volunteers sold flowers, sweets, handicrafts, etc. In total, 44,728.50 hryvnias were collected for a car for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Employees of Zdovbytsk village council and educational institutions carried out landscaping and laid flowers at monuments, memorial signs, burial places of fighters for the independence of Ukraine, fallen participants of the Revolution of Dignity, participants of the ATO, who died in the war with the Russian Federation in 2022.

Also, local deputies prepared and sent goodies, canned goods, hygiene products, medicines and other things for the Ukrainian defenders to the south.

In the Zdovbytsky Lyceum, nets are woven for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.


Khmelnytskyi Oblast

Kamianets-Podilskyi

Everything is calm in the oblast. There were no air alarms.

Today in Kamianets, two events were open for visitors: the photo exhibition "The Dimension of Walls" and the project"Mobility" . Both events complement each other. The venue is "Art-Shovyshche" [Art-Shelter].

"The dimension of walls. Points of pain" is an exhibition of a young photo artist from Toretsk, Dana Marianchuk. Immediately after the opening of the exhibition, the townspeople were able to take part in the "Mobility" master class and understand the entire exhibition and themselves even better. "Mobility" is a project by Kharkiv artist Eusevia about improvisational movement through images and metaphors for people with any level of physical fitness.

The coordinators of AUI "Active Community" attended the Divine Service for Peace in Ukraine.


Chernivtsi Oblast

Currently, it is safe in Chernivtsi Oblast. The representatives of the security forces are protecting the peace of the residents and guests of the region in an intensified mode.

A grenade thrower from Bukovyna, Pavlina Nikolaevich, received the "Cross for Combat Merit" from the President: she led the group out of the encirclement.

Alla and Anatolyi Belykh are pensioners. They currently live in one of the hostels in Chernivtsi. The couple evacuated here from Mariupol with their entire family - with their son, daughter-in-law and their three-month-old granddaughter: "Such horror is not even shown in movies!"


Zakarpattya Oblast

Near Uzhgorod, children at a "roadblock" collected over UAH 12,000 for a car for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The children's initiative was supported by the abbot of the Horyansk Rotonda church, Father Bohdan Savula. He encouraged adults to pass the roadblock and hand over money to children. As a result, it was possible to collect UAH 12,670 in three days.

Local cooking and art help to forget the horrors of war. Internally displaced persons get to know the local cuisine and receive psychological support.
